BYJL 2006 Exeter

The East London duo of Stephen Jarvis and Alec Briggs traveled to Exeter for the final round of the Wosscow Brown British youth and Junior league U14 championship with Steve holding a 15 point lead on September 12.

British youth and Junior league - 1st Stephen, 2nd Thomas Reed & 3rd Ben Mould

Their first race drew them together along with Exeter’s Tom Read Steve’s nearest rival. Tom drew grid 1 with Alec on 3 and Steve on 4.. When the tapes went up it was Tom who made the bend first and Steve try as he might could not catch him and had to settle for 2nd, with Alec gating last but took Ben Collins for 3rd place.

Steve made amends in his next 3 races with some slick gating to finish on 15 points and a place in the “A” final. Alec put in some really good races scoring all his points by passing his opponents and scoring a very creditable 12 points and a place in the “B” final. With still places at stake the “B” was a very good race with Alec off grid 3 pushed hard for 4 laps taking Leicester’s Jake Hogan on the last bend only to slip letting Ben Collins through for the win.

The “ A” was made up of the 4 main contenders with Tom Read 1 Steve Jarvis 2 Dayle Peace 3 and Ben Mould 4. The tapes went up and Tom made the jump 1st with Steve pushing him hard for 4 laps but could not quite get there, but the runner up position assured him of the championship win by 10 points.
